Hi all. Here's my first newsletter. Please be patient with me as composing is not my forte. On July 20th, a team of twelve, myself included, will be leaving from Tomoka Christian Church in Ormond Beach, FL, for a journey to the Northwest Haiti Christian Mission Camp in St. Louis du Nord, Haiti.

The preparation for this trip started in January with fundraising. We have pulled weeds, planted flowers, mowed lawns, mulched flowerbeds, worked in our churches cafe, and volunteered at A Second Blessing, TCC's thrift store. All of this has developed a strong bond among ourselves, but I feel a part of this mission also started in January. Working these jobs was more than earning money, it was about being blessed to help a person in need and meet someone I would have not otherwise known. I realized that a mission does not have to be in another country...it can be next door for the elderly neighbor who has difficulty tidying the yard or carrying groceries into their house.

In Haiti, we will distribute 3,000 shoes, lead many Vocational Bible Studies, cuddle lots of babies, and take the elderly for ice cream. This is my first mission trip and I have never left the country so you will have to tune back in for pictures and details after my return. If you are a praying person, please include us in your prayers for receptive ears, willing hearts, and safe travels. If not...let us know and we will pray for you.

The shop will be closed from July 20 - August 2, 2010. Thank you in advance for your support and patience.
